Exosomes are small nanovesicles released by cells. They can be found in bodily fluids such as blood, milk, saliva and cerebrospinal fluid, and be isolated from cell culture supernatants. Exosomes contain protein and genetic material and have been proposed to play a role in cellular communication whereby their contents can be transferred to other cells.
