Brief description

This dataset contains de-identified, coded data from experimental research on eyewitness identification. The data are from ongoing experiments which commenced in 2010, with altogether approximately 500 participants to date. The data are collected from a series of tasks that participants are asked to complete after sighting a target or individual in an open environment. The tasks assess the participant's ability to identify the sighted target or individual. The data incorporates 50-60 variables from the tasks, which measure, for example, how long it takes participants to identify a person and their level of confidence; their view of the person; and whether they would be willing to testify in court. Combinations of live, video and still image parades are used and experimental conditions are manipulated, including lighting conditions, distance from target or individual and time of exposure to target or individual. The data are in Excel and text files, with the responses collated into a single file containing the response for each variable.
