The director of a film has been noted as being a significant influence in how a film is created and its final product. There has been significant literature on the subject of directors and the films that they have made and the AFIRC has for many years collected books and other items on the basis that they discuss certain directors and their films. Film students who use the AFIRC are often interested in finding works related to directors and in recent times there have been courses looking specifically on the work of one or two directors.
The Directors collection contains over 100 items and these materials contain books, journal articles, and clippings files.
