Brief description

The Department of Lands administers 92% of the land mass of Western Australia. The department's purpose is to unlock the potential of Crown Land for the economic, business, social and environmental benefit of all Western Australians, present and future. Established on 1 July 2013, the Department of Lands (DoL) is a new dynamic agency fulfilling a government function which dates back to the very beginnings of the State. The department's objectives are to provide leadership in land policy; ensure security of land tenure; and optimise the value of the State's land assets. DoL is pursuing its objectives through a number of initiatives including: - Developing lands policy, providing advice to government agencies on land related matters; - Undertaking land assembly action which align to state and regional planning priorities; - Renewing eligible Crown land leases; and - Administering the sale of Government property, ensuring the highest and best use of Government assets.
