Together with the sound compositions, the canvases and artists’ scorebooks tell this story.  The collection consists of: 200pp. exegesis, text with 48 coloured figures, 14-track CD sound recording, Exhibition collection of 6 artists books and 10 giclee (digital print) canvases, DVD of images exhibition canvases and artists books, Exhibition copies of 14-track audio CD. The collection represents the complete body of work submitted by Melissa Cary to complete her PhD. A Visual Representation of Music & Aural Representation of Image:

The Intermedia Frottage collection documents the development of compositional method for using graphic synthesis techniques to create sounds from images, and images from sounds. The products of these processes are then layered and arranged in cohesive, meaningful combinations. Moving back-and-forth between the two mediums in this dynamic interaction, a narrative interplay develops, connecting the materials created.
