Auroral observation have been carried out since the establishment of Syowa Station in 1957. Currently operated instruments are: All-sky monochromatic imager (ASI), All-sky TV camera (ATV), Multi-color meridian scanning photometer (SPM), and Conjugate auroral imager (CAI). Output data of ATV is the video signals, those of ASI and CAI are digital still images, and those of SPM are digital data file. ASI observes three different wavelengths (557.7, 630.0, 427.8 nm) by changing each interference filter at each 20 seconds. SPM observes seven wavelengths (427.8, 485.2, 487.4, 557.7, 630.0, 777.4, 844.6 nm) simultaneously. CAI is operated in the same mode with the CAI in Husafell in Iceland, and its wavelength is now 427.8 nm. Captured images of ATV at every 1 minute are transferred in real time to NIPR via satellite network.
